10 – Pestilence #1
AfterShock Comics is an independent comic company at its best! Pestilence creators Frank Tieri and Oleg Okunev have delivered an amazing story mixing zombies and the Dark Ages and like everyone else, I’ve ordered my copy and I’m waiting for it to get here.
Now I know what you’re thinking. If I haven’t read it, how do I know it’s hot? Easy. Look at EBay! Your Local Comic Shops. This is all over the place!
Now I haven’t read it, so I’m going to borrow a paragraph description from ComiXology (Of Amazon) who beautifully describes the book.
“It’s the late 14th Century, and a Great Pestilence—the “Black Death”— is sweeping across Europe, killing over 100 million people. BUT, what if history as we know it was a lie? What if, in reality, this was no straightforward plague, but the FIRST non-recorded Zombie Infestation of man? Ex-Crusader Roderick Helms and his fellow “black ops” agents the Church, Fiat Lux, must seek out the cause of this undead outbreak and vanquish it before mankind ceases to exist!”
Do grab your copy!
9 – Batman #22
Part 3 of the four issue story arc, “THE BUTTON” which runs through Batman and the Flash, does not disappoint. All I can say is, the reunion is super emotional and warm and and you get to see a Batman story you’d never think you’d ever see.
Oh. And the WATCHMEN are getting close. Real close.
8 – Guardians of Knowhere #1 (Spider-Gwen Variant)
This book is a good back issue buy any day of the week, because after all, everything Guardians of the Galaxy is super nova hot. And that’s really hot. But this book is different. It’s steaming for another reason. And that reason is this variant cover right here showcasing the awesome image of Spider-Gwen as Venom!
Now that’s cool and all, but the reason why nerds have been grabbing up this book is, cause Venom is about to make his way into the Spider-Gwen Universe. Yup. Venom versus Spider-Gwen equals all sorts of awesome! Right now, this is a 20 dollar book, but soon, it could go even higher so scoop yours up before they’re all gone.
7 – Captain America: Steve Rogers #15
Everyone hates this book. And for good reason. But that reason also has people scooping this book up like they’re under that same crazy spell that has Captain America all, “Hail Hydra” or whatever. Yup. The controversial series that reveals that Captain America is a secret Hydra agent after years of reppin the “Red, White, and Blue”, is red hot.
Now for whatever political reason you have, you can hate this book, but fans cannot deny that this is the most exciting that Captain America has been in decades and this issue right here leads us all to the amazing Secret Empire series, thus… it’s a hot, sought after book.
Plus, come on. It’s Cap versus the Red Skull! HAIL HYDRA!
6 – X-Force #11
I can hear the cool nerds now. “Dude, you can find these in dollar bins everywhere.” Sure, bro. I’ll pay double for those Near Mint copies you were talking about. Go ahead. Show me these “Dollar bin” books again. I’ll wait.
Anyhow, this is the first true appearance of Domino who is set to make her big screen debut in Deadpool 2 and if she’s as good as advertised, expect this to go higher than the 15 buck price tag it currently has. And if you do have copies and copies sitting in your dollar bin, Dude! Pull them out and put them on the shelf, cause they’re gonna sell!
5 – Groot #4
Everyone loves Baby Groot. Everyone. After all, he was even too adorable for Taser-face to kill. Now he may be the smaller, dumber Groot like Drax thinks, but he’s the Groot we all love and adore. And aside from catching him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, you can catch his cameo appearance right here. So grab this book up before that adorable baby Groot becomes that annoying teenager that leaves his vines all around for poor Peter to trip over.
4 – Secret Empire #0
Oh Nick Spencer, you evil little troll, you… oh how they hate you. Now may be a good time as any to remind you that Nick also created Morning Glories, one of Image Comics best titles of all time. You remember that? So take that fond memory of Nick and just remember, he wasn’t always so evil.
Now if you all haven’t picked up this series, do so now, cause this book is seriously remaking Marvel history as it goes and spoiler…. some of you will be angry. But also remember, the story is not just about Cap, but Captain Marvel and other new heroes who have been in the spotlight lately. All I can say is… this is a game changer.
3 – I Am Groot #1 (Smallwood Variant)
Everybody loves Groot. But what everyone loves more, is a Groot variant cover and this baby is being scooped up by Baby Groot fans all over the world. But people, the cover isn’t the only awesome artwork. Inside, the art of Flaviano Armentaro is simply too amazing.
And yes, Baby Groot is totally adorable.
2 – Groot #5
This book is extremely popular. The first full appearance of Baby Groot has Fanboys and fan girls alike spending their hard earned paychecks to buy an issue. And why not? Like my buddy said, “It’s freakin Baby Groot, for Christ sake” only he didn’t actually say freakin.
While the story may not be an instant classic, the cover and what this book represents is. So all I can say is, buy this book, buy issue #4 as well, and then go se Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at your local theater. Hey, I’ve seen it seven times already. Yup!
Any how, let me leave you with this to enjoy as you scroll down to the number one hottest comic in the land.
1 – Batman #21
This is the soon to be classic story-arc, “The Button part 1.” You see, after DC’s successful book, DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH #1, Bat-Man and the Flash team up to solve the mystery of the SMILEY FACE button they found in the Bat-Cave and basically, the introduction of the Watchmen into the DC Universe begins here.
This book is going to rock the DC Universe like never before.
Oh yea. And there’s the Reverse-Flash too.
